Golf river cruises in Europe let you play courses near the river by day and sail on to the next town by evening. Here is how the program we found works.

How a Golf River Cruise Works

The AmaWaterways golf program page describes a Concierge Golf Program offered on selected departures of two itineraries: Magna on the Danube and Impressions of the Seine & Paris. The line lists golf seasons in 2026 and 2027 running roughly from spring into autumn, and says golfers can play up to five championship courses during the cruise with a dedicated guide.

According to the line, the program includes transportation to and from the courses, club care and cleaning, one round per golfer at each course with a shared cart and range tokens, and lunch at each course. On a day you play, golf replaces the other shore experiences. The golf package is bought together with a river cruise and has its own deposit, separate from the cruise fare.

Who a Golf Cruise Suits

Couples with one golfer

The golfer plays; the partner tours. You meet again at dinner with two sets of stories.

Groups of friends

Four golfers can share a week of rounds without driving between courses.

Travelers who want variety

A few rounds mixed with cities like Vienna, Budapest or Paris keep the week balanced.

Check the details carefully: which dates carry the program, how many rounds are included, how many places are available and the cancellation terms for the golf deposit. These can change from year to year.

Before You Pack the Clubs

  • Ask how clubs travel: whether rental clubs are offered or you bring your own, and how they are stored on board.
  • Check your airline’s rules for golf bags on the flight to Europe.
  • Bring course-appropriate clothing and shoes; dress codes apply at many European clubs.
  • Ask whether a handicap certificate is needed for the courses on your itinerary.

Golf is one of several themes covered on this site. For Danube itineraries in general, see Danube Riverboat Cruises.

Golf River Cruise FAQs

Are there golf river cruises in Europe?

Yes. AmaWaterways publishes a Concierge Golf Program on selected departures of two itineraries: Magna on the Danube and Impressions of the Seine & Paris, with seasons listed for 2026 and 2027.

Do non-golfers miss out?

No. On the program we found, golf replaces the other shore excursions on the days you play, so a non-golfing partner can follow the normal tours and meet you back on board.

Is golf included in the fare?

On the program we found, golf is an add-on purchased together with the river cruise, with its own deposit. Ask for the current terms when you get a quote.
